Where precision meets practice

Psychological Assessment Practitioner Programme (PAP)

Mastering IQ, neuropsychological, personality and scale-based assessment — a three-month, hands-on programme to build confident, accurate and ethical testing skills.

Dr. Rabya Umman teaching psychological assessment

About the programme

Where precision meets practice: a space where you don’t just learn the tests, but learn to think like an assessor — building confident, accurate, ethical psychological testing skills, ready for real clients, real cases and real careers.

The programme was built to fill a gap most academic courses leave open: real, hands-on mastery of the tools that make a clinical opinion credible — from IQ and neuropsychological batteries to personality inventories and standardised clinical scales.

Why assessment skills matter

A diagnosis or recommendation is only as strong as the assessment behind it. Yet most psychology graduates leave university having only read about these tests — never having administered, scored or written a real report on one. This programme closes that exact gap.

Course structure

  1. Phase 1 (1st month): IQ & Neuropsychological Testing — Intelligence testing (Binet-Kamat, Raven’s Progressive Matrices, Bhatia Battery, MISIC, VSMS and other IQ tests); neuropsychological batteries (NIMHANS Neuropsychological Battery, PGI Battery); screening and specific tests (Bender Visual-Motor Gestalt Test, Trail Making Test, Wisconsin Card Sorting Test); scoring norms, age/education corrections and writing a clinically usable IQ/neuropsychological report; case-based practice with real-format test material.
  2. Phase 2 (2nd month): Personality Assessment & Psychological Scales — Objective personality inventories (MCMI, 16PF, Draw-a-Person); projective techniques (Rorschach Inkblot Test, Thematic Apperception Test, Sentence Completion Test and CAT); clinical and diagnostic scales (Beck’s Depression & Anxiety Inventories, HAM-D, HAM-A, PANSS, Y-BOCS and other standardised scales); choosing the right tool for the referral question; integrating scores into one coherent clinical picture.
  3. Phase 3 (3rd month): Supervised Practical Training — Live administration practice on peers and, where appropriate, real cases; scoring accuracy checks and interpretation supervision directly with Dr. Rabya; report-writing practice — turning raw scores into a professional, patient-ready report; feedback and correction on real attempts, not just theory review.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Psychological Assessment Practitioner Programme (PAP Programme)?

A focused, three-month, hands-on training programme for psychology graduates who want real competence in psychological testing — not just theoretical knowledge. It covers IQ and neuropsychological testing, personality assessment and clinical scales, with a dedicated supervised practice phase so you leave able to actually administer, score and report on these tools.

Why did Dr. Rabya Umman design this programme?

Across years of clinical and forensic work, Dr. Rabya repeatedly saw psychology graduates who could describe a test in theory but had never administered one under real conditions — leaving them under-confident and under-qualified for assessment-based roles. This programme was built specifically to turn theoretical knowledge into real, defensible assessment skill.
