Our approach
Psychotherapy (talk therapy) is a scientifically tested treatment in which a trained clinical psychologist helps you understand your thoughts, emotions and behaviour, and learn practical skills to change them. For many conditions — such as anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD and insomnia — psychotherapy is recommended as a first-line treatment by international guidelines, including the WHO and the UK's National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). Its benefits often last long after sessions end, because you learn skills you keep for life.
At Mind Detox Centre, Dr. Rabya Umman does not use one approach for everyone. After a careful assessment, and correct diagnosis she chooses the therapy — or combination of therapies — that best suits your problem, your personality, your age and your goals.
How we choose the right treatment for you
- Safe, confidential first consultation — unhurried time to understand your concerns.
- Assessment — clinical interview, screening and, when needed, psychological tests.
- Clear diagnosis and explanation — what is happening and why.
- Therapy matched to you — an evidence-based approach, explained in simple words.
- Regular review — we track progress and adjust the plan until you reach your goals.
- Relapse prevention and follow-up — so improvement lasts.
Our testing process
When an assessment is needed, we recommend only the tests that answer your specific question.
- Consultation — we understand the concern and recommend only the tests that are needed.
- Preparation — simple instructions (rest well, bring glasses or hearing aids, previous reports).
- Testing session — in a calm, private room; children are given breaks and made comfortable.
- Scoring and interpretation — by a qualified clinical psychologist using standard norms.
- Written report — clear findings and recommendations.
- Feedback session — results explained in simple language, with next steps.
